Dear Members of A-Teams and Allied Advocacy Groups:
You need to know that changes being made to the Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services program could stop funding for group homes, day programs, and work programs offered by Rehabilitation for Wisconsin in Action member organizations for individuals with significant disabilities. People served by our member organizations all over the state will be affected, unless the national grassroots action campaign succeeds.
IF you take action, now, you can help prevent this from happening. Your U.S. Senators and Representative in Congress need to hear from you about the importance of Medicaid-funded services received by people served by RFW in Action member organizations.
Please see the sample letters, below, that you can use to write to your U.S. Senators and Representative to ask them to contact Health and Human Services Secretary Sebelius to demand that she change what is happening.
Here are the local addresses for Wisconsin’s U.S. Senators:
Senator Tammy Baldwin Senator Ron Johnson
30 W. Mifflin Street 219 Washington Avenue
Suite 700 Suite 100
Madison, WI 53703 Oshkosh, WI 54901
Your U.S. Representative’s office can be found at www.contactingthecongress.org by simply entering your zip code.
Your voice needs to be heard now! Jobs, homes, and community centers for people with significant disabilities are in danger! Changes are already being made in New York and other states based on the new rules proposed by the federal government and we need to put a stop to it!
If you need more information about this matter, please call me or your local service provider.
Sincerely,
C. Thomas Cook
Executive Director, RFW in Action
